Would you 'boldly go'?

''What do you do when you feel lost? Do you cling to the threads of stability, clench your fists and battle your way back? Or do you follow the feeling further, exploring the void until the newness becomes normality?"

As the festivities die down, January gloominess remains a steady constant. A black dog might lurk around the corner, banished only by the presence of SAD lamps and hot baths. Resolutions are heaped on top on one another, covering a multitude of sins: gluttony, sloth, greed, envy. Aims to better ones-self may be scuppered by decisions made without consultation, immediately altering the plans and perspectives of the year.

Do you resolutely cling to those ambitions? Battling past the shadows, the 'what-ifs' and the 'whys'? Or do you breathe deeply and cling only to the wine glass, allowing the downfall of change to sweep you downstream, where only time will determine the outcome: a vast ocean of calmness, a tumbling waterfall preceded by a torrent of rapids, or maybe a dry bed all together.

As we near the end of the month, with the season of Hallmark-induced romance just around the corner, I hope you are filled with some light for the coming year, no matter what those resolutions may be dredging up.
